Visualisations via a 3D landscape model in the BMBF project RAME

In the RAME (Research Association Mining and Environment) project, land uses of a post-mining landscape are planned. The project is developing land use concepts for the Hon Gai region in Vietnam, where several open coal mines are being closed. The region is located close to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Currently existing opencast pits, spoil heaps, supply roads, mining infrastructure and settlement areas need to be transferred to future use. The basis is an integrated master plan concept. All further planning, rehabilitation and recultivation measures are based on this master plan. Economic, social and environmental aspects must be taken into account. Possible conflicts of use between mining, settlement areas, nature conservation and tourism are to be prevented.

This requires good communication between all parties involved. 3D visualisation is used as an important communication tool.

For this purpose, Lenné3D visualises post-mining landscapes as they will look in 2030 in realistic images. They include settlement structures, recreational facilities and natural or near-natural vegetation zones.
